625 violators, 47 most wanted persons fall; 7 NPA rebels surrender

INTENSIFIED anti-criminality operations have led to the arrest of 625 offenders, 47 most wanted persons and the surrender of seven suspected members of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Eastern Visayas.

The Police Regional Office-Eastern Visayas reported that the seven-day intensified operations resulted in the arrest of 190 personalities involved in illegal fishing, 39 in illegal logging, 162 in illegal gambling, 18 drug suspects, and 216 other wanted persons from the provincial, city, and municipal police station levels.

Authorities also seized illegal drugs with a total estimated street value of P116,800 and 50 small heat-sealed sachets of substance believed to be shabu from anti-illegal drug operations.

In anti-illegal gambling, police confiscated bet money amounting to P17,032, while P624,173 estimated worth of lumber was seized during the operations.

Fishing paraphernalia and illegally caught fish worth P9,105,625 were seized from anti-illegal fishing operations.

The region’s “Kontra Boga” also led to the confiscation of 165 firearms.

Meanwhile, the seven rebel surrenderers turned in three units of caliber .38 revolver, three caliber .45 pistols, one roll time fuse in 200 meters long, four magazines, and 43 live ammunition.
