TWO pregnant women who were found to be coronavirus-positive gave birth while on transit in Lapu-Lapu City Tuesday night, September 14, 2021.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Lapu-Lapu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office head Nagiel Bañacia said the two women gave birth while onboard the city's ambulance while awaiting admission at Lapu-Lapu City Hospital.

Bañacia initially apologized to the two women and their relatives, as they had to immediately administer the birthing process for the safety of both mothers and their infants.

Both women and their infants are currently admitted at the city hospital.

Bañacia urged pregnant women to continue to practice the minimum health protocols to avoid getting infected with coronavirus.

He said giving birth especially during the Covid-19 pandemic is very difficult, especially that even maternity houses are full of patients. (JKV)
