Talisay brings vax efforts to brgys

WITH more of their citizens still not getting their Covid-19 jabs, officials of the Talisay City government are resorting to bringing their vaccination efforts closer to the people.

Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas Jr. told SunStar Cebu that with only few people coming to their four vaccination centers, they have started to implement barangay vaccinations daily.

Gullas said they converted the city’s dental vans and turned them into mobile vaccination clinics that will go around the City to vaccinate within the barangays.

Gullas said that aside from their local health personnel, they also partnered with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) to assist them in the barangay vaccination efforts.

As of Sept. 15, 2021, their mobile vaccination clinics have visited Barangays San Isidro, Candulawan, Linao and Dumlog.

Gullas said that they are extending their vaccination operations towards the barangays to convince more people to get vaccinated.

As of Sept 14, around 44,000 individuals from Talisay City are fully vaccinated.

He said senior citizens in his City are often that most difficult to convince when it comes to Covid-19 vaccination.

But he is hopeful that they can convince more senior citizens to get vaccinated through the help of their barangay officials.

Gullas even supports the idea of incentivizing the vaccination program and is in talks with his city’s health officials on how they can go about it.

As of Sept 13, Talisay City logged a total of 249 active cases, 4,182 total recoveries and 232 total deaths. (MVE)
