AT LEAST 10 of 15 public and private hospitals in Cebu City are now considered within safe levels after their average critical care occupancy rate (CCUR) is now below 60 percent.

This was what officials of Cebu City’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) reported on Monday, Sept. 13, 2021.

Based on EOC’s report, Cebu City’s 15 hospitals are now reporting a CCUR of 56.3 percent or far below the situation that occurred in August 2021, in which hospital occupancy reached more than 70 percent.

The 15 hospitals allocated a total of 1,026 beds dedicated for Covid-19 patients with 578 were occupied, while 448 beds remained vacant.

EOC’s report also showed that 10 hospitals in the city are considered safe with occupancy below 60 percent; one hospital was considered in moderate risk; two were considered high risk; while other two hospitals were in critical level.

Separately, Cebu City Councilor and EOC deputy chief implementer Joel Garganera said the daily cases of Covid-19 in the city is lower than last month which resulted to fewer admissions at the city’s hospitals.

Garganera cited an example that on Sept. 13, the EOC recorded 57 additional Covid-19 cases, in which 35 were admitted.

The councilor said this is much lower compared to before wherein the EOC recorded around 300 cases a day, and around 80 of them were admitted.

Cebu City, based on EOC’s Sept. 14 data, has 1,352 active Covid-19 cases.

The total cases in the city reached 39,684 with 37,023 recoveries and 1,309 deaths. (JJL)
