Orientation for Seal of Good Local Governance barangay level kicks off

THE Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has started the implementation of the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Barangay Level through an orientation for the 2021 pilot testing on selected villages in the province.

Much like the SGLG award conferred to provinces, cities and municipalities, the barangay level will also assess the kind of public service delivered by a barangay to its constituents.

This will include the assessment of governance in safety, peace and order, financial administration and sustainability, disaster preparedness, social protection and sensitivity, business-friendliness and competitiveness and environmental management.

DILG-Pampanga Director Myrvi Fabia, who led the orientation, said the assessment of the activities and level of performances of barangays are important to ensure the quality of public service the public receives from the government.

"Ito rin ay isang paraan upang malaman at makapagbigay ng kinakailangang tulong teknikal ang DILG sa mga lokal na pamahalaan," she added.

Among the topics discussed during the orientation were the standards to be assessed and the introduction of the new SGLG-B Information System, which will be used in the evaluation and submission of results.

The orientation was attended by barangay secretaries and other officials and DILG field officers in the province.
