THE Carlos Hilado Memorial State College (CHMSC) has turned over 500 sets of personal protective equipment (PPE) to its institutional partners who are in the frontline of the ongoing fight against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic in rites held at the Global Learning Café of its Talisay Campus on September 16, 2021.

The PPE were part of the CHMSC Safe Products project, particularly of the research and extension teams, funded by the Commission on Higher Education (Ched) under its Higher Education Development Fund Staff with a grant worth P754,047.

The set of PPE consisted of suits, aprons, shoe covers and face masks for health frontliners.

These were given to Bayanihan Mission represented by its founder and president, Dr. Josephine Grace Chua Rojo; Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital represented by Archie Celorio and Melchor Gana-an; and Provincial Health Office of Negros Occidental represented by Provincial Epidemiological and Surveillance Unit Coordinator Zarina Zara Zafra, and Disease Surveillance Officers Stephanie Joy Guino-o.

Present in the ceremony were representatives of Barangay Zone 3 in Talisay City namely Barangay Kagawad Nancy Garcia, Liza Anonsawon and Chirezel Jardeliza. Their team served as CHMSC’s partner in sewing the PPE.

It was also graced by CHMSC Director for External Affairs Rhoderick Samonte, Vice President for Research and Extension Andrew Eusebio Tan, and Director for Extension and Community Services Mary Grace Nacionales.

Ma. Lourdes Hagos, who is the project leader of the PPE Production Team, discussed the rationale of the project.
