THE local government of Balamban has called on all residents at least 18 years old to stop being picky and instead head to the malls on weekdays to have themselves vaccinated against Covid-19.

In a Facebook post Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, the government called on residents 18 years old and above to go to the Gaisano Town Center and the Gaisano Grand Mall to get jabbed, saying all vaccine brands are safe.

“Palihog kadtong wala pa mabakunahi, adto lang sa Gaisano Town Center ug Grand Mall. Open na sa tanan tawo ang bakuna. Mga sikad drivers, pedicab drivers, mga estambay diha, mga maestra, mga trabahante sa malls, mga naninda sa merkado sa isdaan, sa karnehan, sa mga utanon ug prutas...TANAN TAWO...basta 18 ang edad pataas pwede na pabakuna. Pwede na walk in,” Councilor Lorna Desiree Gonzalez said in a Facebook post shared by Balamban’s Facebook page.

(Those who have not yet been vaccinated, please go to the Gaisano Town Center and Grand Mall. The vaccination is open to everyone. Trisikad drivers, pedicab drivers, jobless people loitering on the streets, teachers, workers in malls, peddlers in the market, sellers of fish, meat, vegetables and fruits... ALL PEOPLE... so long as they are 18 years old or older can be vaccinated. Walk-ins are now allowed.)

She urged residents of the western Cebu town not to be choosy, saying all vaccines are safe and provide protection against serious illness. The vaccination team will be at the malls from Monday to Friday.

“Palihog ayaw ug huwat ug lain brand sama sa Pfizer or Moderna or Janssen kay ang coronavirus wala gyud mag huwat ana. Mo diretso ra sila ug takod sa tawo unya luoy ang walay bakuna kay ma grabehan gyud ang sakit,” she added.

(Please don’t wait for other brands like Pfizer or Moderna or Janssen because the coronavirus that causes Covid-19 does not wait for those and will just directly infect people. And woe to the unvaccinated because they will be severely affected.)

Gonzalez also informed those planning to go abroad, like to the United States, that even those who received the China-made Sinovac vaccine will be allowed entry there.

“It’s not true that you will not be allowed to enter the USA,” she wrote in Cebuano.

Gonzalez said the World Health Organization had approved all brands of vaccines.

The councilor said Covid-19 cases continued to rise in the town, so residents should not be complacent.

As of Sept. 17, Balamban had logged a total of 866 Covid-19 cases since the pandemic began. Of these, 84 were active cases, 718 had recovered while 64 had died. (CTL)
