About 50 residents of Bacolod City availed of the free legal services dubbed as "Libre Konsulta Legal, conducted by the members of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines - Negros Occidental Chapter at SM City mall yesterday, September 1.

The event that was conducted in partnership with the Rotary Club of Bacolod Central (RCB) and United Architects of the Philippines - Negros Occidental Chapter is in observance of the Law Day

RCB Central president Floressa May Castro, IBP chapter president Josephine Natalaray and UAP chapter president Rolem Basiya also led the group in the ceremonial lighting of candles to symbolize peace and unity.

These values of peace and harmony are enshrined in the 1987 Philippine Constitution for its citizens to enjoy, they said.

Natalaray said the free legal clinic is a regular program of IBP but this time, their group partnered with the Rotary and UAP to expand the project.

For Basiya, the free legal clinic comes at a very reasonable time for our beneficiaries, mainly because we are facing economic difficulties because of the pandemic while Castro said the club is fortunate to have collaborated with IBP and UAP.

She believed that the clinic is our group's contribution to nation-building as such a program promotes peace and conflict resolution. (CNC)
