Duno back in action this weekend

ROMERO Duno quickly returns to action in the US weekend and takes on journeyman Jonathan Perez in an eight-rounder on Sept. 25, 2021 (PH time) at the Manuel Artime Community Center Theater in Miami, Florida.

Duno sets foot on the ring just a month after a first round stoppage win over Ramon Esperanza on Aug. 20, 2021.

The 25-year-old Duno is slowly building up momentum for a run at the lightweight division in the US boxing scene.

Duno made a name for himself in the US after a second round knockout upset over Christian Gonzalez, who was a rising unbeaten prospect in 2017.

He piled up six more wins before his impressive run on US soil was foiled by budding star Ryan Garcia, who knocked him out in a single round in 2019.

Duno has won back-to-back fights since his loss to Garcia.

The 34-year-old Perez is a 66-fight veteran. He has fought the likes of former world champions Christian Mijares, Alejandro Hernandez, Eric Ortiz, Martin Castillo, Jose Lopez, Abner Mares and Jezzrel Corrales.

Perez lost his last four contests and is coming off a fourth round stoppage in the hands of Matt Conway.

Duno is 23-2 with 18 knockouts, while Perez is 38-27 with 30 knockouts. (EKA)
