Mandaue City sees decline of individuals willing to be inoculated

THE Mandaue City Vaccine Board admitted that there is a decrease on the number of individuals willing to be vaccinated against Covid-19 as they are now dealing with those who said “NO” to the survey.

In the daily briefer of the Visayas Vaccination Operations Center (VVOC), it reported that Mandaue City only inoculated 3,040 vaccinees for the first dose out of the 25,000 target for September 13, 2021 to September 18, 2021.

Ernie Manatad, the chairman of the Mandaue City Vaccine Board, said they are still dealing with those who said “NO” on the survey which means that they are those who refused to get vaccinated during the house-to-house survey at the barangays.

Manatad told Sunstar Cebu that this takes a lot of convincing and campaigning to gain vaccine confidence among those who have not yet vaccinated.

He admitted that achieving herd immunity in Mandaue City is difficult due to the lack of vaccine confidence for the rest of the population.

In a separate interview with Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes, said the public should not immediately believe whatever they read in social media that might be fake news and should practice listening to the experts with corresponding data.

He said that it was proven by the data accumulated by the health experts that those who are severely infected by the Covid-19 virus or those who were succumbed by it were mostly unvaccinated.

With this, Cortes said they will not stop their vaccination campaign.

On the other hand, Manatad said they are also busy making the masterlist for the 12 years old to 17 years old individuals in the city in anticipation of the arrival of the vaccines allocated for the minors.

However, they have already made an initial masterlist in the past months during their house-to-house registration at the barangays and now they only have to download it from their database. (KFD)
