'Hermosa 2021 Festival' events set in October

THE local government is now accepting entries and application for three upcoming competitions of the 2021 Zamboanga Hermosa Festival in October.

Mayor Maria Isebelle Climaco-Salazar said these are the Original Chavacano Video Music Festival 2021, the Hermosa Festival Art Competition, and the Zamboanga Idol Season 3 Singing Competition.

Salazar said the Original Chavacano Video Music Festival will have the theme “Fe, Amor, y Esperanza (Faith, Love and Hope)” and will look for songs that are upbeat and include indigenous musical instruments.

The competition will have three competing categories - song composition, song performance, and music video.

"Only 15 entries will be accepted," Salazar added.

She said that both the Chavacano Video Music Festival and the Art Competition will accept registrations, demo records, and art concepts until September 26.

She said a live audition screening will be held on September 25 to select 15 finalists for the Zamboanga Idol Competition, which is slated for October 8.

Meanwhile, Salazar said the Hermosa Festival Art Competition will have the theme “Hermosa: Un Gran Celebracion (Beautiful: A Great Celebration)” and will focus on acrylic paint medium on 36x48" canvas.

She said that only the top 15 will proceed to the competition proper and the entries will on public display on October 9.

Virtual events, competitions, and limited live activities will continue to mark majority of the Hermosa Festival 2021 activities to ensure a #SafeHermosa2021 celebration and in compliance with health protocols amid the pandemic.

The highlight of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival is the Feast of Our Lady of the Pillar, the most revered patron saint of this city, on October 12. (SunStar Zamboanga)
