THE wedding coordinator who scammed a couple in Cebu City was rushed to a hospital in Mandaue City Thursday, September 23, after he attempted to commit suicide.

The wedding coordinator identified on social media as Naser Fuentes allegedly cut his wrist a day after news broke out that he ran away with P65,000 from a newlywed couple.

Fuentes is reportedly renting a house in Purok Sampaguita, Barangay Casili, Consolacion, where he attempted to commit suicide. A neighbor said Fuentes is living alone.

Fuentes’s name became viral on social media Wednesday, September 22, after a photographer whom he hired to cover a wedding posted on Facebook a video showing the bride, identified as Cherry Pie Purisima, crying after finding out that Fuentes had not booked the place for the wedding reception.

Tonskie Elsisura, on his Facebook post, said the couple had already paid Fuentes P65,000 but they could no longer contact him hours before the wedding. They later found out that the place where the reception is supposed to happen was not actually booked.

“Nagpakita pa ang coordinator during wedding preparation at the couple’s residence. Then by lunch time nilakaw na c Naser and dili na makontak, but we assumed maybe busy ug decor sa venue. So after sa church, which is sa Minglanila pa, proceed mi sa venue sa Kiaras Catering and Events sa may Labangon area, ug pag-abot namu didto close jud ang venue! Walay handa, wala tanan!” Elsisura’s post read.

“According sa management, wala daw nabook na event that day. Pati kami mga suppliers scam sad wala mabayri,” he added.

As of 1:15 p.m. Thursday, the Facebook post has garnered 33,000 shares and 14,000 comments.

Reports said Fuentes has scammed several others, not just Purisima and her husband. (LMY)
