AT LEAST 38,639 individuals received their first jabs of Covid-19 vaccines as of September 21, 2021, as the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP)-led mobile vaccinations target Davao City's high-risk barangays.
Of the 38,639 vaccinated Dabawenyos through the mobile vaccinations of the Vice Mayor's Office (VMO) and Davao City councilors since August 4, a total of 2,257 already got their second doses.
On September 20, a total of 467 got Sinovac first jabs in Barangay 37-D, which was spearheaded by the Office of Councilor Bonifacio Militar, while 649 received second doses of Sinovac vaccines in Barangay Daliao through the efforts of the Office of Councilor Alberto Ungab.
Ungab's office also catered to 578 Sinovac second dose vaccinees in Daliao on September 22.
Davao City Covid-19 Task Force Spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser, in the Covid-19 Alert program of the 87.5 Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) aired Wednesday, September 22, thanked the VMO and the SP for their support of the city's vaccination rollout program.
"Pasalamat ta sa atong good councilors. Sila man tanan, headed by the Vice Mayor's Office og mga councilors. Sila jud tanan they are all working together to achieve herd immunity per barangay. Target ang high-risk barangays, paspasan og bakuna to protect the barangays through achieving her immunity," she said.

From September 20 to 26, six barangays were categorized as critical risk, Baganihan, Dacudao (Calinan), Dalag, New Valencia, Tagakpa and Ubalde; while 72 barangays were considered as high-risks.
The city health official said although the goal of hitting 15,000 daily vaccinations has yet to be achieved, the Davao City Covid-19 Task Force is bent on making it happen soon even as the city is dependent on the vaccine allocation from the national government.
Dr. Schlosser said, "Ang (The) Covid Task Force created a team solely to achieve this 15,000 a day. Kaning team created jud ni sya with the help of the people coming from the VMO, Vaccine Cluster head, and councilors para ma achieve jud ang 15,000 vaccinations a day (This team was created with the help of people coming from the VMO, Vaccine Cluster head, and councilors to achieve the 15,000 daily vaccinations). We're positive that we can achieve the 15,000 daily and target herd immunity before the year ends."
She earlier said the city can meet the daily vaccination target with available logistics and manpower, which was why Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has requested the Department of Health to increase the city's vaccine allocation.
Duterte-Carpio also requested the VMO and SP to form their mobile vaccination teams to expand the city's vaccination rollout. The mobile vaccinations usually cater to those in the A2 (senior citizens) and A3 (adults with comorbidities) priority groups.
With Davao City's surge in Covid-19 cases, Schlosser reiterated the need for the public to get vaccinated as soon as possible while continuing with compliance with the minimum public health standards of wearing face masks and face shields, frequent handwashing, and social distancing. (PR)
