TO FIRM up Hedcor’s commitment to advancing host communities, the AboitizPower subsidiary, together with Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (AFI), held a series of Memoranda of Agreement (MOA) ceremonial signing with its partners from Luzon and Mindanao, iterating the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects it will implement.

The MOA signing was attended by representatives and members of the Local Government, partner organizations, and government agencies as well as Hedcor’s

team members headed by President and COO Rolando Pacquiao, and Vice President for Corporate Services Noreen Vicencio.

“Together with Aboitiz Group, Hedcor holds a very ambitious purpose of ‘driving change for a better world,’ and little by little it is rewarding and fulfilling to see how partner communities grow and develop with Hedcor,” said Pacquiao.

In 2021 CSR budget of about P17 million, 36 percent are allocated for projects on education. With this, Hedcor will be supporting 81 qualified scholars from its host communities for its High School Financial Assistance and college scholarship

programs.

The P1.7-million worth of school supplies and other resources are also allocated to assist partner schools in the ‘new normal’ learning setup as classes begin this September.

“Our educational initiatives will not only empower our educators to continue shaping our lives but also our students to increase their retention of information now that learning is done digitally,” says Mayor Manuel Munar of the Municipality of Sablan, Benguet.

Aside from education, about P5.6 million are allocated towards improving health care facilities. Hedcor and AFI find it timely to prioritize health care, especially as we continue to combat this pandemic.

“We are very thankful to Hedcor, for their support especially in this pandemic,” said Mayor Anthony Uy of the Municipality of Impasugong in Bukidnon. “Rest assured, the local government will collaborate [with Hedcor] to ensure development for the community.”

Other community projects lined up by Hedcor are on repair and construction of infrastructure projects, capacity building, and enterprise development.

Hedcor is set to implement these projects beginning September of this year. Host communities who will be enjoying these CSR programs are 30 barangays and 13 cities and municipalities, from the province of Ilocos Sur, Mt. Province, Benguet, Davao del Sur, and Bukidnon where Hedcor’s 22 hydropower plants are located. (PR)
