WITH the expansion of Davao City's vaccination, including the launching of the "Bakuna Nights," the city's Covid-19 Task Force expects that herd immunity will be achieved by November 2021.

"Actually, November gani atong achievement para gwapo atong (we are targeting by November so we will have a merry) Christmas, na (so that) we will be able to get together with our families kay protektado na ang buong komunidad (because the community is fully protected)," Covid-19 Task Force spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser said in an interview on 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio on Friday, September 24.

The Davao City Government pilot-tested the evening vaccination on Thursday and Friday, September 23 and 24, at San Roque Elementary School. It started from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The evening vaccination is the city's response to some individuals who cannot find time to be vaccinated due to their day jobs.

"Hopefully tanan na ron magpabakuna (everyone will get vaccinated)," Schlosser said.

A total of 588 individuals were vaccinated on September 23, while the data for September 24 has yet to be provided.

Although the official said the turnout of vaccinees is already a positive reflection of the public's reception.

"Makaingon gyud ta na naa gyud diay gusto magpabakuna, dili lang sila kaadto sa sites on daytime," she said.

(We can tell that there are people who wanted to be vaccinated. They just can't go to our sites in the daytime.)

Once operational, the evening vaccination will cater to walk-ins. They are reminded to bring their valid ID, personal Safe Davao QR (DQR) Code, and their own ballpen for registration.

Aside from San Roque, Schlosser said the City is also targeting the Davao City Recreational Center (Almendras Gym) as another site for the Bakuna Nights.

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said in a radio interview on September 20 that the launching of the evening vaccination is the city's response to make vaccination more accessible.

The mayor also added the evening vaccination will also be available on the Safe Davao QR Code online vaccination appointment.

As of September 21, 2021, based on the data provided by the City's Vaccination Cluster, Davao City already administered 702,170 for the first dose and 536,198 for the second dose.
