1,890 new Covid-19 cases in Central Luzon on September 23

SOME 1,890 additional coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases have been recorded in Central Luzon on Thursday, September 23, 2021, according to the latest data from the Department of Health (DOH).

This brought the total number of active cases in the region to 18,332, while the number of confirmed cases was at 244,168 with some 220,822 recoveries. The number of deaths since the start of the pandemic also reached a total of 5,014 cases.

Central Luzon, which ranks third after the National Capital Region and Calabarzon in the number of coronavirus infections, has recorded some 23,920 new cases in the last 14 days alone. Bulacan alone had recorded some 8,387 new cases in the last 14 days while Pampanga had recorded some 4, 671 new cases from the same period.

At least some 63 of the 177 facilities in the region are currently in critical status with another 24 facilities at high risk of no longer being able to admit new patients. The region’s bed occupancy rate is currently at 73.5 percent.

At least 288 people have died of the virus in the region in the last 14 days. Most of the deaths have been recorded in Bulacan (68), Pampanga (76), Nueva Ecija (68), Zambales (21) and Tarlac (32).
