IF IT'S too good to be true, consider other options.
This was what a wedding coordinator advised future couples, following the incident of a bride and groom getting scammed on their wedding day.
Alnair Agujar, proprietor of Chasing Perfection Weddings and Events, told SunStar Cebu that the incident that has befallen bride Cherry Pie Purisima and her groom Arniel Satingasin over the hands of Naser Fuentes was tragic.
"No couple deserves to experience such, especially on their once-in-a-lifetime event," he said.
For future couples, Agujar said they should take time to review the legitimacy of the wedding planner and other suppliers, check on their portfolios, recent works, reviews from past clients and co-suppliers.
"If you feel like the service is so cheap and is too good to be true, then consider looking for other options," he said.
Joan Lapus, spokesperson of the Cebu Wedding Suppliers, said what happened was unacceptable.
"You cannot turn back time to correct what has been done. It should have been a beautiful memory rather than a traumatic one. We in the events industry do not condone or tolerate such doings amongst the members," she said.
Lapus urged brides who are planning on engaging the service of a wedding planner to do their research on their candidate.
"Ask around about background and past works, ask venues for recommendations, ask friends if they know someone. It is better to be safe than sorry. And another thing, check with every vendor, especially big-ticket items like venues, if their event has been really booked," she said. (JOB)
