Social welfare department ready to augment LGU resources for lockdown-hit families

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is set to augment the resources of the local government units (LGUs) under granular lockdowns.

Pursuant to the Memorandum Circular No. 11, series of 2021, the DSWD will assist different LGUs with risk-level classification through the provision of Family Food Packs (FFPs).

With this scheme, only certain areas such as barangays, streets, sitio, purok or subdivisions identified as “critical zones” or high risk for the Covid-19 would be placed under a lockdown.

The provision of family food packs to the affected residents will be through a co-sharing of responsibility by the DSWD and the LGU.

Residents living in these areas will receive food packs from their respective LGU for the first seven days, while the department will augment for the remaining seven days during the entire quarantine period, based on the signed guidelines.

DSWD also clarified that this special assistance aims to support the daily needs of a household during the lockdown. Each household will receive three food packs for their consumption within seven days. One FFPs is good for a family of five for two to three days.

DSWD will also provide three FFPs to coronavirus-positive individuals who will be isolated to a government authorized quarantine facility or individuals who will be advised for a home quarantine as certified and monitored by the Barangay Health Emergency Response Team.

In case there will be an extension of the lockdown, the department will still augment the resources of the LGU in providing the needed food packs to the affected.
