DEPARTMENT of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Silvestre Bello III led the turnover of the P6,540,000 worth of programs and assistance to 1,358 beneficiaries in Cagayan de Oro on Friday, September 24, 2021.

The event was part of the two-day aid distribution conducted by DOLE in Northern Mindanao.

"Nandito kami para ibigay sa taong bayan dito sa Cagayan de Oro at Misamis Oriental yung kunting ayuda na makatulong sa kanila lalong-lalo na sa panahon ng pandemya," Bello said.

The P6.54-million financial assistance also covers DOLE's Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (Tupad), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration's (Owwa's) Balik Pinas Balik Hanapbuhay (BPBH), Education and Livelihood Assistance Program, Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) Dependent Scholarship Program, Tulong-Puso program, Project Alay sa Pag-aaral Recipient, and BPBH of NRCO.

The turnover highlights DOLE's new BikeCINATION Program, wherein 15 individuals received bicycles.

The BikeCINATION Program is a special project under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) to incentivize workers who have completed the two doses of Covid-19 vaccines and cushion the impact of the pandemic to the workers in the informal economy.

Twelve individuals from the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) group received a home-based salon starter kit that amounts to P250,000; eight groups were given the Kabuhayan Program of about P250,000 per group, and 226 fire victims received cash assistance that amounted to P824,900.

Owwa provided assistance to OFWs through the Tulong Puso Program (two OFW association beneficiaries), and Balik Pinay Balik Hanapbuhay, wherein two OFWs received P20,000 each.

Owwa also provided scholarships to two college-level dependents of active member-OFWs whose employment were affected by the Covid-19. Each of them received P10,000 cash assistance. Three students also received P10,000 each under the OFW Dependent Scholarship Program.

Bello also awarded 10 establishments in the transportation and storage, manufacturing and construction sectors the DOLE Safety Seal.

On the same day, 1,278 beneficiaries in Misamis Oriental received DOLE's package of assistance worth P1,887,000.
