CEBU City logged 53 fresh Covid-19 cases on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021, based on the Cebu City Emergency Operations Center (EOC) data.

These 53 new cases came from a total of 1,255 tests conducted on Saturday. The rest of the samples tested negative for Sars-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19.

As of Saturday, the city’s total active cases were still at 954. The City’s daily positivity rate was at 4.22 percent, which was still within the World Health Organization’s five percent threshold for percent positive in Covid-19 tests conducted.

The Cebu City EOC said based on its Sept. 26 report, household transmission remains the leading cause of Covid-19 infection.

A total of 366 out of the 556 Covid-19 bed allocation in Cebu City’s 11 private hospitals remain available. Only 213 of the 337 Covid-19 bed allocation in the city’s four public hospitals were occupied as of Saturday.

Cebu City EOC deputy chief implementer and Councilor Joel Garganera continued to urge Cebu City residents to get vaccinated and take advantage of the walk-in vaccination in Robinsons Galleria.

He also encouraged the residents to register for the May 2022 elections as the Commission on Elections is also conducting its satellite registration in the same mall until Sept. 30.

“Be part of the change. Be part of the new normal. Parehistro gyud (Be sure to register for the elections). Pabakuna gyud (Be sure to get vaccinated),” he said. (WBS)
