Pangan: A diary of an architect

FIESTA Communitis is fortunate to have a share of well-meaning professionals: doctors, lawyers, engineers, architects, nurses, information technology practitioners and medical frontliners.

One such professional is Architect Jacqueline Nuas Salvador, who works in a firm inside Clark Freeport Zone.

A graduate of Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) in Sta. Mesa, Manila, she passed the Architecture exams in 2012 and has since practiced her profession by accepting modest to lucrative design works from referrals and walk-ins.

According to her, she had to take first a Management course in order to enter PUP, through the backdoor that is, as there were so many applying for slots in the state-run university. From there, she shifted to Architecture which is her first choice anyway. Her journey towards the title was not easy, she said, as there were times when she had to scrounge for funds in order to exist.

Now married with two children, Jackie is a concerned resident-homeowner of Fiesta Communities. Her husband assists her in raising a small family. She was once an officer in the homeowners' association at Fiesta.

Many people are so excited about the possible running for a national position of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio. Several organizations endorsing her candidacy for president have sprouted everywhere, from the north down south.

One such organization (IPM 2022) espoused by Angeles City Councilor Joseph "PG" Ponce is heartily pushing for her running for president. Ponce, the secretary-general, has maintained a running video conference among Sara's leaders, convenors and coordinators. They even urged PRRD (President Rodrigo Roa Duterte) not to run for vice president to allow Sara to run. The two, it was reported, had agreed to let only one run for a national position. So there, everything is still fluid at this time. Let's just wait till the candidates file their respective certificates of candidacy.

Speaking of Mayor Sara, she issued an executive order mandating all employees of the Davao City Government to get the Covid-19 vaccine or face sanctions.

Mayor Sara is one executive so passionate to lessen the spread of the coronavirus, so this issuance aims to mitigate the spread of the virus in the metropolis.

Other local chief executives may do well to follow Sara's initiative.
