Lacson: Supporting the SDGs

ON SEPTEMBER 24, 2021, the 6th anniversary of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals or Global Goals, the blueprint that guides us in achieving a better world by 2030, was celebrated.

The Department of Education Region III, composed of its twenty schools division offices and 3,675 public schools actively join the call to help address the global challenges such as poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice through the fulfillment of our mandate of bringing quality, accessible, and relevant basic education to all school-aged children regardless of their socio-economic status, religion, cultural background, and psychosocial and intellectual condition.

For the past six years, DepEd Region III streamlined its strategic directions to the Department’s Sulong EduKalidad framework reflecting the region’s aspiration to deliver quality education and that is to soar above the challenges in basic education with its quadrants representing the four key reform pillars (KITE). Among the notable accomplishments in these reform areas include the increase in number of schools catering to inclusive education and the emphasis on nurturing the special curricular needs of its learners. As we looked into improving the access, DepEd Region III also ensured that the learning environment is conducive and safe with the provision of physical resources, student health and support programs.

DepEd Region III has also put a premium on the improvement of overall teacher quality and school leadership through various upskilling and training, including the retooling of teachers and school heads over the course of the last six years.

DepEd Region 3 was the first DepEd unit in the country to receive ISO 9001:2015 Certification in 2017 a testament of its commitment to quality management. Such improved processes were especially crucial during the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.

DepEd Region 3 recognizes that it is especially crucial during these times that every learner is provided an environment that supports their learning, whether in school or their homes. As we move towards our goal of creating a sustainable future by 2030, DepEd Region III will remain committed in the effective an efficient delivery of our programs and projects to ensure that no Filipino learner will be left behind.
