DTI-Central Luzon sets activities for Consumer Welfare Month

IN CELEBRATION of the upcoming Consumer Welfare Month of October 2021, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Central Luzon is now organizing activities to promote consumer protection and advocacy in the region.

DTI Regional Director Leonila Baluyut said its regional and provincial offices have prepared activities to ensure that consumer protection is still promoted despite the challenges of quarantine restrictions and the pandemic in general.

Among the activities it has organized are: Online Poster Making contest, Spoken Poetry, Photo Contest, Short Film Competition, Webinars and Diskwento Caravan runs.

The Online Poster Making contest and Short Film competition will cater to students and youth to harness their creativity to promote consumer advocacy and consumer rights and responsibilities promotion.

DTI-Bulacan, for example, will be conducting Consumer Awareness and Responsibilities webinars in partnership with the Bulacan Consumer Affairs Council.

Instead of a Fun Run, DTI-Pampanga, for its part, will hold a Consumer Fun Bike in partnership with the City of San Fernando, Pampanga local government unit.

DTI-Pampanga is also set to hold an online vlog making contest for young participants, while Diskwento Caravans will also be held in different towns and cities in the region to provide affordable basic necessities, Noche Buena items and prime commodities in selected areas.

Webinars on discounts to senior citizens and persons with disabilities will also be held to clarify rules and regulations on the provision of discounts to some sectors.

Webinars on Certified Establishments or the Bagwis Awards will also be conducted by DTI provincial offices to orient business establishments on how to apply for the certification.

To participate in the abovementioned activities, the public is advised to contact the DTI provincial offices in their localities or visit the official social media pages of DTI regional and provincial offices in Central Luzon to send a message.
