2 killed in Silay road mishaps

TWO persons were killed in separate vehicular accidents in Silay City, Negros Occidental Sunday, September 26.

The victims were identified as Ricardo Divinagracia, 70, of Barangay Guinhalaran, and Jemar Panes of Barangay E. Lopez, Silay City.

Divinagracia, a village watchmen, was on his bicycle and was heading south of Rizal Highway in Barangay Guinhalaran passed 1 p.m. when a Ceres bus driven by Rey Tandog, 39, of Barangay Mambulac, Silay City hit him.

Silay City police chief, Lieutenant Colonel Robert Petate, said Divinagracia was trying to make a left turn when the accident happened.

Divinagracia was rushed to the Teresita Jalandoni Provincial Hospital (TJPH) in the city but succumbed to head injuries, Petate said.

Meanwhile, Panes was on his motorcycle and was on his way to the city proper when he accidentally bumped into a parked truck along the Access Road in Barangay E. Lopez evening of the same day.

Panes died while being treated at the TJPH.

Drivers of the bus and truck may face reckless imprudence resulting in homicide charges.
