Eastern Visayas top police units, personnel honored

EASTERN Visayas top police units and personnel received awards during the 120th Police Service Anniversary celebration at the Camp Ruperto Kangleon in Palo, Leyte on Monday, September 27, 2021.

Lieutenant General Dionardo Bernardo Carlos, chief of Directorial Staff of the Philippine National Police (PNP), together with Lieutenant General Bernabe Balba, commander of Area Police Command-Visayas, and Lieutenant General Ferdinand Divina, commander of Area Police Command-Southern Luzon, lauded the leadership of Police Regional Office (PRO)-Eastern Visayas Director Rommel Bernardo Cabagnot.

“Thank you for your dedication and hard work in your field of expertise. Your Team PRO 8 family is indeed so proud of what you have become,” said Cabagnot, who also thanked the presence of some local government officials during the ceremony.

The awardees of Medalya ng Kasanayan were Colonel Epe Rillo, previously chief of Regional Comptrollership Division (Best Senior Police Commissioned Officer for Administration); Lieutenant Colonel Elizar Gonzaga, chief, Provincial Administrative and Management Unit, Southern Leyte Police Provincial Office (Best Junior Police Commissioned Officer for Administration); Chief MSgt. Zendah Sudio, chief clerk, Regional Comptrollership Division (Best Senior Police Non-Commissioned Officer for Administration); Corporal Marichu Nevaliza Grabillo, Police Community Relations PNCO, Tacloban City Police Office (Best Junior Police Non-Commissioned Officer for Administration); Colonel Arnel Apud, Northern Samar Police Provincial Office (Best Senior Police Commissioned Officer for Operations); Major Edwin Oloan, Force Commander, 1st Northern Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company (Best Junior Police Commissioned Officer for Operations); Executive MSgt. Rogelio Glino Jr., chief clerk, Regional Community Affairs and Development Division (Best Senior Police Non-Commissioned Officer for Operations); Staff Sgt. Marynell Tizon, Family Juvenile and Gender and Development PNCO, 1st Leyte Police Mobile Force Company (Best Junior Police Non-Commissioned Officer for Operations); NUP Mae Teresa Araneta, Assistant Regional Accountant, Office of the Regional Comptrollership Division (Best Non-Uniformed Personnel-Supervisory Level); and NUP Mae Joy Rosaldo, Training Assistant, Office of the Regional Learning Development and Doctrine Division (Best Non-Uniformed Personnel-Non-Supervisory Level).

The special award was conferred to Lieutenant Colonel Demosthenes Magnaan, Officer-In-Charge, Regional Intelligence Division (Police Commissioned Officer).

The unit awardees were Leyte Police Provincial Office (Best Police Provincial Office); Tacloban City Police Office (Best City Police Office); Maasin City Police Station (Best City Police Station); Naval Municipal Police Station (Best Municipal Police Station); Police Station 2, Tacloban City Police Office (Best Police Station); 1st Northern Samar Police Provincial (Best Provincial Mobile Force Company); Tacloban City Mobile Force Company, Tacloban City Police Office (Best City Mobile Force Company); Regional Finance Service Unit 8 (Best Regional Administrative Support Unit); Regional Highway Patrol Unit 8 (Best Regional Operational Support Unit); Quinapondan Municipal Police Station Eastern Samar Police Provincial Office (Best Women and Children Protection Desk); and Leyte Police Provincial Office (Best Provincial Strategy Management Unit).

The 22 awardees were highlighted in line with this year’s theme, “Hangad na Kalinisan sa Kapulisan, Kapaligiran at Komunidad; Ibayong Gampanan para sa Pangkapulisang Integridad.”

The event is in commemoration of the birth of Philippine Constabulary (PC) on August 8, 1901. The PC was organized for the purpose of maintaining peace, law, and order in the Philippines by Major General Henry Allen by authority of Organic Act 175 of the Second Philippine Commission.

It was then replaced by the current PNP on January 29, 1991, pursuant to Republic Act 6975, otherwise known as the DILG Act of 1990.
