DOLORES Barangay Captain Vilma Caluag filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) before the Commission on Elections office of the City of San Fernando, Pampanga on her second try to win the mayoralty seat of this city.

The lady mayoralty aspirant observed strict protocols during her filing. She attended a thanksgiving mass with family members and a few supporters at the Metropolitan Cathedral of San Fernando without her full lineup. Caluag said her lineup was assigned dates to file their COCs to enable the strict observance of health protocols.

Caluag was joined only by her family whose decision to make her filing of COC intimate as compliance to the health protocols for Covid-19.

“Marami yung namatay, mas dumami yung cases natin dito sa San Fernando. Kaya kailangan tayong sumunod. Humahabol tayo kaya kailangan tayong sumunod,” Caluag said.

Caluag said she is running with incumbent Councilor Ariel "Boboy Pogi" Carreon as her vice mayor, who filed his COC about an hour before her.

However, the complete list of councilorables under Caluag's slate are yet to be disclosed.

When asked about her platform agenda, Caluag said she will bare her ten-point agenda before the people of the city through social media in the coming days, stressing that the chief of her programs will be on universal health care.

"Hindi rin kasama ang mga ka-slate natin dahil nagbigay nalang kami ng kanya-kanyang araw para maiwasan ang mag-ipon ipon ang mga tao dito," she added.

When asked about her platform, Caluag said she has a 10-point agenda that are all aimed at uplifting the lives of Fernandinos and spurring progress in the Pampanga's capital city.

Among the said agenda is the proper implementation of the Universal Health Care law, which she said is needed by the public, especially during this pandemic.

"We will soon reveal ang kabuuan ng aking 10-point agenda, but definitely ito lahat ay para sa ikabubuti ng mga Fernandinos," she said.

Caluag also assured that health protocols will also be strictly observed by her even during the campaign period as the public's safety is their top priority.

"Bilang isang nanunungkulan, gusto po natin maglead by example at ang pinakamagandang example ay ang pagsunod sa mga health protocols dahil ayaw na po natin makadagdag sa problema ng Covid-19," she said.

Caluag said that her Tiktok popularity can help in her upcoming campaign. She said that Tiktok enabled people to see the real Caluag family.

She asked supporters and Fernandinos to unite for peaceful elections in the city.

Caluag is the official candidate of Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) in this capital city. She was defeated by incumbent Mayor Edwin Santiago in the last 2019 elections.

“Peace be with you all po, pulitika lang po ito magtulongtulong tayo and may the best woman win,” Caluag added. (With Princess Clea Arcellaz)
