BACOLOD City Mayor Evelio Leonardia has lauded the support of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) for the local government’s "Buhay sa Gulay" project.

Leonardia, along with DAR Secretary lawyer John Castriciones, earlier visited the 1.4-hectare project site in Barangay Alangilan.

Leonardia, in a statement, said agriculture is important and more so during this pandemic.

The mayor thanked the DAR chief for his support of the program and expressed his commitment that the local government will help make it flourish.

The project aims to promote the importance of high-value farming among agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) to also encourage them to have an alternative source of income by growing and selling fresh vegetables.

The project is in collaboration with the City Agriculture Office and the Benez Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Farmers Association.

Joining them during the visit were DAR Undersecretary Ranibai Dilangalen, Assistant Secretary Ubaldo Sadiarin Jr. and Regional Director Atty. Sheila Enciso among other personnel of the agency and local officials.
