LTO 7: Claim your motorcycle plates at no additional cost (PR)

LAND Transportation Office (LTO) 7 has once again reminded all motorcycle owners to claim their plates without paying an additional cost.

This is after LTO 7 received reports on the alleged releasing of motorcycle plates through dealers that asked for an additional payment.

LTO 7 regional director Victor Emmanuel Caindec said that these complaints that were raised to their agency have no affidavit and most complainants are afraid to execute one.

That is why RD Caindec has required a memorandum of agreement to all motorcycle dealers when they will claim the plates on behalf of their customers.

"We want to release through dealers, except dili mi mosugot nga walay Memorandum of Agreement nga mo pirma sila. Ngano? Og naay pasangil nga nangayo og bayad sa plaka, sila ang manubag," said RD Caindec on his Facebook post.

The director also revealed that no dealer has signed the said memorandum yet, "Wala pa many ni pirma, so dili tingali sila gusto manubag."

As of September 27, 2021, a total of 196,098 motorcycle plates are on-hand at LTO 7.

Of the said number, 143,044 are ready for pickup at the Temporary Offsite Plate Distribution Office in SM Seaside.

Under the data of the New Registration Unit (NRU) 7, only 5,661 motorcycle plates have been released and claimed.

Based on the motorcycle plates on hand of LTO 7, bulk numbers came from the year 2018 or those motorcycles that were registered in the said year.

There are a total of 137,081 plates on-hand for 2018; 5,217 for 2016; and 746 for both 2014 and 2015.

For 2021, there are a total of 53,053 plates that are already on-hand of LTO 7.

Owners can verify the availability of their motorcycle plates by texting the details of their motorcycle registration such as plate number, MV file number, registration date, and name of the owner to 0947-349-9965. (PR)
