THE newly crowned Cebuana beauty queen added resilience and grit to her growing list of admirable traits.

Cebu City’s Tracy Maureen Perez fell on the floor twice during the Coronation Night held at the Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center Hall A on Oct. 3. The event lasted almost seven hours. Perez would stumble first before the announcement of winners, and next, right after she was crowned.

Fans who followed the event via livestream from 7 p.m. until around 1:30 a.m. pointed out that the extended program may have caused exhaustion among the candidates.

In the end, Perez bested 43 hopefuls to win the pageant as Miss World Philippines 2021.

During the question and answer portion, the judges asked Perez on what she wanted the people to take away as learnings after the pandemic.

"After this pandemic, I hope that we never take for granted the family that we have, taking care of our health, and taking care of the people that protect us—our leaders, our frontliners. We should always give importance to those people. We may not see the efforts that they give out, but most definitely they are our modern heroes. And for that we should always be grateful, and that we should always stick with them and pray for them. Thank you,” Perez answered.

Perez was also awarded Best in Swimsuit.

Cebuana dentist Shaila Rebortera, representing Cebu Province, was also named Miss Multinational Philippines 2021.

The other winners during the pageant:

Miss Eco Philippines and Miss Photogenic: Kathleen Paton

Miss Eco Teen Philippines: Tatyana Austria

Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas: Emmanuelle Vera

Miss Tourism Philippines: Trisha Martinez

Miss Environment Philippines: Michelle Arceo

Best in Evening Gown - Danica Dilla

Miss Supranational Philippines: Dindi Pajares

Metro Cebu is beaming with excitement with Perez’s win as she joins fellow Cebuana, the recently crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Beatrice Luigi Gomez, for their quest to win it all in their respective international pageants this December.

Perez will be representing the country in the 70th Miss World 2021 in Puerto Rico. Gomez will be representing the Philippines in the 70th Miss Universe pageant in Israel. (LQ3)
