San Carlos City awards tourism week winners

THE San Carlos City Tourism Office has awarded schools, students, barangays and tourist-related establishments for winning various contests in line with the Tourism Week celebration in the northern Negros Occidental locality.

Mayor Renato Gustilo with Sangguniang Panlungsod chair on tourism Councilor Philip Gerard Maisog, City Administrator lawyer Estefanio Libutan Jr. and City Tourism Office in-harge Jennifer Saballa-Paran led the giving of certificates to the winners at the City Mayor's Office recently.

In the Virtual Tour Guiding Competition for junior high school category, Julia Marie Alfon of Colegio de Sto. Tomas-Recoletos bagged the first place followed by Alexa Macatual of Colegio de Sta Rita de San Carlos Inc. as second.

Grace Pelayo of Sipaway National High School and Crystal Gayle Palmares of Quezon National High School placed third and fourth, respectively.

For the Virtual Tour Guiding competition for senior high category, Lhean Monterona of Colegio de Sto. Tomas-Recoletos was the champion; Kate Cyrel Canoy of Colegio de Sta. Rita de San Carlos Inc. - fist runner-up; Rhyza M. Cabanes of Quezon National High School - second runner-up and Alvie Chen Rigor of Sipaway National High School - third runner-up.

Princess Micaela De Asis of Bagonbon National High School took home the Best Tourism Marketing Video award.

Meanwhile, Barangays 3, 5, 6, Rizal, Codcod, Guadalupe, Ermita, Punao, San Juan and Bagonbon were given certificates of participation for the Most Tourism-Oriented Barangays.

Some tourist-related establishments were also recognized as Qualified Establishment for Public Restroom Standard.

These included La Vista Highlands Mountain Resort, Whispering Palms Island Resort, San Carlos City Negros Island MPC, Shell Gasoline Station, 10.9 Resto Bar, Dexter’s Pizza, Jollibee-Gaisano, McDonald’s-San Carlos, Carmels’ Inn and Restaurant, Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation, Meg’s Resto Bar, Sampat Restaurant, Parana Yulo Resort, Monica’s Rest House, Mr. C, Eco Inn, Trez Kusina and Ma. Awani Hotel. (PR)
