Another school worker yields shabu in Tacloban

ANTI-NARCOTICS agents and police operatives arrested another employee of the Department of Education (DepEd) over alleged selling and possession of illegal drugs in Tacloban City Monday, October 4, 2021.

Authorities identified the suspect as Banjo Asirit, single, 44, and bookkeeper of Tacloban National Agricultural School (TNAS).

In an initial report, personnel of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Tacloban City Police Station 2 seized from the suspect MOL 1 gram of shabu with an estimated street value of P7,000, as the subject of sale, and MOL 1 gram of shabu with an estimated worth of P7,000 in his possession.

Operatives also seized P500 buy-bust money, identification cards, and other items.

On September 20, 2021, joint operatives also arrested an administrative assistant at TNAS for alleged illegal drug activities.

Asirit will be facing charges for violation of sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (SunStar Philippines)
