SOME resto-bars in Cebu City have been ordered to temporarily stop operating until they can have all their workers including their managers vaccinated and they can secure special permits.

Also, the liquor ban has not been lifted, but restaurants and bars can serve liquor under certain conditions.

P/Lt. Col. Wilbert Parilla, deputy director for operation of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) said Monday, Oct. 4, 2021 that these resto-bars need to comply with these two requirements before they can re-operate.

Executive Order 143 issued by acting Mayor Michael Rama on Oct. 1, 2021 lifts the liquor ban effective Oct. 1-31 as the city moved to being under general community quarantine (GCQ) from GCQ with restrictions. Service establishments such as restaurants can now reoperate but must need to secure special permits and should only get workers who are vaccinated.

Parilla said that random checks on service establishments revealed that some have not secured the special permits and have service crew who are vaccinated.

This prompted the Cebu City Emergency Operation Center to order the suspension again of their operation until they can comply with the EO 143 requirements, Parilla said.

But the management of these establishments have reasoned out that they cannot force their workers to get vaccinated. Some of them shun vaccination owing to their religious belief, Parilla said quoting the management.

Parilla said the police will continue to rove the neighborhoods for roadside or outdoor drinking, which under the quarantine status and EO 143, is not allowed. (PAC, MPS)
