MORE residents of San Simon in Pampanga are set to be jabbed in the coming days after two private firms donated vaccines against coronavirus disease (Covid-19) on Monday morning, October 4, 2021.

Global Aseana Land Development Corporation, represented by its Chief Operating Officer Christian Halili, donated 4,826 doses of Astrazeneca Covid-19 vaccines.

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), through its Lead Specialist Dey Carolino, also gave 3,000 of the same brand of vaccine.

The donations were turned over to Acting Mayor Leonora Wong and Municipal Health Officer Marline Bagtas-Dela Rosa at the town's vaccination center.

According to Halili, the initiative is part of their company's corporate-social responsibility, particularly in support of the national government's anti-Covid 19 vaccination program.

Carolino, for her part, said the NGCP's donation is in line with its goal of assisting the national and local government in addressing and fighting the ongoing pandemic.

Meanwhile, Wong expressed gratitude to both firms for boosting the vaccination program of the municipality.

"We all know that vaccines are considered gold today, that's why I cannot find the right adjective to express my sincerest gratitude to Global Aseana and NGCP for their generosity," she said.

She added that she has been tapping the private sectors to donate vaccines to protect all Simonians from Covid-19, and achieve the target herd immunity by end of the year.

"I am hopeful that our other partners from the private sectors will follow the lead of our two generous donors today so we can achieve our common goal of transitioning to the better normal soon," Wong said.

The donated vaccines will be administered to individuals from A1 to A5 sectors with priority to senior citizens and persons with comorbidities.
