SAN Carlos City Mayor Renato Gustilo has turned over checks worth P600,000 to the Masaligan Rebel Returnees Farmers Association (MRRFA) of Barangay Nataban and Guadalupe Farmers Association (GFA) at his office on Tuesday, October 5, 2021.

Mark Layos, project development officer II of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Western Visayas, said the assistance worth P300,000 for each group was taken from the Sustainable Livelihood Program of the agency.

It was coursed through the Project Vamos organized by the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) of the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental in partnership with the City Government of San Carlos City as part of the anti-insurgency program of the national government.

MRRFA chairman Felicio Diacosa and GFA’s Wilfredo Henorides said the money will be used to buy quality goats for livestock raising.

The groups have already tapped the City Agriculture Office to assist them in the purchase of the animal stocks.

They thanked the government for the financial assistance received by their associations.

It will help provide their members additional income, they added.

City Social Welfare and Development Officer Cynthia Mirande, Guadalupe Punong Barangay Romeo Descartin of Guadalupe and Barangay Nataban Secretary Josabel Villaraso also witnessed the turnover activity. (PR)
