PDEA agent hurt in shooting

AN AGENT Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) was injured after he was shot by unidentified assailants at Purok Cabugwason, Barangay Cabug, Bacolod City Tuesday evening, October 5, 2021.

Police identified the victim as Intelligence Officer 1 Jayson Yayola, 36, of Barangay Canusa, Pulupandan, Negros Occidental.

Police Major Ritchie Gohee, chief of Police Station 9, said Wednesday, October 6, the victim was heading south of Carlos Hilado High Way past 9 p.m. when the suspects alighted from a car and shot him.

The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds, the police said.

He was brought to the South Bacolod General Hospital and later transferred to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital for medical treatment.

He is now in stable condition.

Police recovered from the scene of the crime three empty shells of .45 caliber and the issued firearm of the victim.

Gohee said the gunman took the sling bag of Yayola and sped off with his companion.

He said they have already a persons-of-interest in the incident and the investigation is still ongoing to determine the motive.
