Vaccine deliveries to hit 100M doses by end-October

PRESIDENTIAL Spokesperson Harry Roque on Thursday, October 7, 2021, said the country is on track to receive 100 million doses of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines before the end of October.

Roque said this will further boost the country’s vaccination against Covid-19.

“Napakadami na nating supply ng bakuna. Wala na pong dahilan para hindi magpabakuna,” he said.

In his report to President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday evening, October 6, 2021, National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19 chief implementer Carlito Galvez Jr. said a total of 80,415,200 Covid-19 vaccine doses have arrived in the country since February.

Not yet included in the count were the 1,003,860 doses of the Pfizer vaccine which arrived Wednesday night.

Galvez said 20,227,020 more vaccine doses are expected to arrive until the end of October.

Roque said 2,132,140 and 1,363,300 more doses of the Moderna vaccine will arrive on Friday, October 8, and Saturday, October 9, respectively.

Of the vaccines delivered so far, 49,735,330 were procured by the national government, 21,642,730 were donated through Covax facility, 5,398,000 were bought by the private sector and local government units, and 3,639,140 were donated by other countries.

Galvez said the national government has secured supply contracts for a total of 187.6 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines.

The government raised the herd immunity target to 90 percent of the total population or 99,179,789 due to the more transmissible Delta variant.

So far, 22,402,105 individuals have been fully vaccinated in the country while 25,376,646 others have received their first dose.
