Zamboanga City police prepares security plan for 2022 polls

THE Zamboanga City Police Office is preparing security plans to ensure orderly, credible, and peaceful national and local elections in May 2022 in the city.

Police Colonel Rexmel Reyes, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director, said the preparation of the security plan is in coordination with the local office of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), and other law enforcement agencies.

The filing of certificate of candidacy (COC) started October 1 and ends Friday, October 8, 2021.

Three of the four known mayoral aspirants along with their party-mates have filed their respective COCs since October 1, 2021.

Reyes has also warned all officers and personnel under his office not to meddle or get involve in any political activities.

He further said that the Philippine National Police (PNP) does not tolerate political partisanship and any violation thereof, constitutes administrative offense for Grave Misconduct, violation of election laws and also the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards.

The ZCPO has command and control over 11 police stations and two mobile force companies. (SunStar Zamboanga)
