SI kanhi Cebu City mayor Tomas Osmeña niingon nga iyang iprayoridad ang pagpatuman sa nalangan na kaayo nga Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project kon modaug siya isip representante sa Kongreso sa south district sa Cebu City.
“Ang BRT nga gikawat ni Dino, iyang gi-block ni Dino. Importante gyod na sa South District, mao na akong number one priority,” sulti niya sa mga sakop sa Cebu media sa Huwebes, Oktubre 7, 2021, pipila ka mga minuto sa wa pa siya mo-file sa iyang certificate of candidacy alang sa Mayo 2022 nga local elections.
“May nag approve na ang World Bank (WB) og P16 billion. Gisaaran ni Dino nga, ‘next year naa nay monorail.’ That’s five years ago. Nahunong g’yod ang atong proyekto tungod ni Dino,” dugang niya.
Dihang gikuhaan sa iyang habig, si Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (Opav) Secretary Michael Lloyd Dino niingon nga ang orihinal nga plano sa BRT usa ka “disaster waiting to happen” busa kinahanglan nga usbon.
“It did not consider the limitations of existing infrastructure. One cannot just conceptualize and introduce a new mode of transportation without a proper integration model that blends design with urban landscape seamlessly,” matod niya sa usa ka press statement.

“Should Tommy pursue his version of the BRT Project, Cebu City and perhaps its neighboring LGUs would have plunged into a chronic traffic gridlock. The dreaming Tommy’s BRT design was not meant to alleviate traffic in Cebu City, a problem he never really effectively addressed as mayor for 30 years. It was more for personal gain,” matod niya.
Giklaro usab ni Dino nga ang proyekto di iyaha ni Osmeña, sa nasudnon ug lokal kini nga paninguha.
“For Tommy to say that the project was stolen from him, it was definitely not. It is not his in the first place. It is both a national and local initiative, now redesigned, recalibrated and revised for the good of the Cebuano people. Further, he claims that the BRT project was delayed unnecessarily. The present BRT abides by the law and does not circumvent any process including feasibility studies, appropriation of funds, expropriation of necessary lots, and road widening among others,” siya nidugang.

Nag-target ang Department of Transportation (DOTr) nga tipik sa BRT project ma operational sa Disyembre 2021, apan wa pa masugdi ang civil works sa unang phase kay naa pa sa bid evaluation sa Special Bids and Awards Committee sa Mayo 2021. (WBS)
