FORMER Candaba mayor Danilo Baylon on Thursday, October 7, 2021, filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for governor, challenging relectionist and incumbent Governor Dennis "Delta" Pineda in his quest for Capitol's top post.

Baylon and Pineda filed their COCs on the same day before the Comelec office.

Pineda earlier stated that he will seek relection to continue the achievements and developments started by his administration, highlighted by the battle against Covid-19 alongside economic recovery and looking after the overall welfare of Kapampangans.

For his part, Baylon said in a pre-COC filing interview with SunStar Pampanga that he will "follow where God wants him to be" in his return to the political arena.

“Kung saan ako ilalagay ng Diyos na mas makakatulong pa, ay susunod tayo, kasi siyempre ito ay aking sariling pag aari na ipinamimigay natin," he said, referring to the food donations he handed on his own as a businessman to several towns in the province.

“What more pa yung pondo ng gobyerno, ang hindi pa natin kayang ibigay at higit sa lahat meron tayong authority para sa implementation ng mga batas na maipapatupad natin para sa kaayusan at kapakanan ng atin mga kababayan kung tayo ay nanunungkulan,” Baylon said.

Meanwhile, Baylon's wife Aniway has also filed her COC as mayor of Candaba town, challenging reelectionist Mayor Rene Maglanque. (JTD)
