Covid-19 cases rise despite low testing output

ALTHOUGH testing output remained low, new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases went up to 11,000 on Saturday, October 9, 2021.

There were also nearly 300 additional Covid-19 deaths and more than 22,000 recoveries, which brought down the number of active cases.

In its case bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) reported 11,010 confirmed Covid-19 cases on Saturday, after two days of over 10,000 new infections.

These brought the total Covid-19 case count in the country to 2,654,450.

The 273 additional deaths raised the death toll to 39,505 and the case fatality rate to 1.49 percent.

With the additional 22,529 recoveries, a total of 2,508,387 have now recovered from infection.

Testing output remained low at 56,475 on October 7 while the daily positivity rate retreated further to 16.3 percent.

There remained 106,558 active cases, of which 1.2 percent were critical, 2.9 percent were severe, 5.64 percent were moderate, 76.3 percent were mild and 13.9 percent were asymptomatic. (Marites Villamor-Ilano / SunStar Philippines)
