DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday evening, October 9, 2021.

This was announced by the Davao City Information Office, through the City Government of Davao Facebook page.

The local government said the mayor manifested mild symptoms and is in isolation "caring for other members who need medical attention" in the city.

"The family requests for complete privacy at this time and respectfully urge the public to refrain from sending tokens for well wishes," the city said.

Those who had close contact with the mayor in the last 14 days are also advised to self-monitor for symptoms and get tested five to seven days after their contact with her.

A week before she tested positive for the virus, Duterte-Carpio had filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) at the Commission on Elections-Davao City office inside Magsaysay Park on Saturday, October 2.

The mayor filed for reelection under the same position.

The City Government has yet to provide additional information on her recent contact history.

Duterte-Carpio, who is fully vaccinated with Sinopharm, is the latest among the Duterte siblings who tested positive for the Covid-19 virus.

Davao City Vice Mayor Sebastian Duterte tested positive in July 2021. Recently, City First District Representative Paolo Duterte, in late September, also tested positive for coronavirus.
