The Academe has not lost its initiative to excel in spite of the current pandemic constraints.
It is a blessed year for the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R). College of Commerce Dean Edgar Detoya congratulated the successful passers in the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment exams: Dr. Cedric R. Naranjo CPA, Dr. Rosemaria V. Jacalan, CPA, Dr. Dale Q. Talaboc and Dr. Mary Joy C. Teodosio.
In the history of Bar and Board exams passers, Josenians had the lion’s share of topnotchers in accounting, law and engineering. The languages, tourism and the biological, social and political sciences have been some of the pacesetters, having attained commendable Paascu (Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities) accreditation, Level 3.
The USJ-R Graduate School has continued its virtual classes in the PhD programs in English and literature. The online enrolment procedures have been systematically processed. The skeletal faculty and staff in each department have been attending to the needs of the faculty and students.
The efforts of the personality development and social graces faculty paid off with the victory of another Josenian, Beatrice Luigi Gomez, as Miss Universe Philippines—the second time a Josenian won this title.
The other schools and universities have had their share of board passers as well.
Congrats to the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (CCCI) Cebu Business Month creative entertainment team headed by Mario Panganiban. It is but time the business group augments the existing projects of artistic exponents to sustain Cebu’s aces in theater, arts, music and related fields.
So many Cebuano artists have been gaining prominence here and abroad.
Decades ago, aside from Lea Salonga, a Cebuana, USJ-R’s Anjannette Laborte, played Kim in “Miss Saigon” in Germany. The Hong Kong version of “The Lion King” had Josenians Maria Donna and Anna Fegi in the lead role.
We wish CCCI chairman Panganiban the best in his creative entertainment projects.
