Public told: Get vaccinated if you want a happy Christmas

DO YOU want a happier Christmas this year? Then go get vaccinated.

This was the call of the Visayas Vaccination Operations Center (VVOC) after vaccinations slowed down in Metro Cebu with only 5,423 vaccinees on October 8, 3,109 on October 9, and 1,105 on October 10.

The daily target is 19,692 vaccinees.

The figures cited were from the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu, Talisay, Naga and the municipality of Minglanilla.

"We are super, super, super low with our jabbing per day. At the rate that we are going, if we can't address this, then we might be lagging behind our projection of having a very happy, merry Christmas which is just two months away already," VVOC spokesperson Dr. Mary Jean Loreche said in a briefing on Monday, October 11, 2021.

As of October 9, a total of 2,188,166 vaccine doses have been administered across all public and private sector vaccination centers in Cebu.

Mandaue City is still leading the local government units in vaccinating its eligible population with 56.14 percent of fully-vaccinated individuals and 61.11 percent for the first dose.

Second is Lapu-Lapu City at 48.26 percent fully-vaccinated individuals and 54.57 percent for the first dose, followed by Minglanilla at 45.13 percent fully vaccinated and 50.30 percent for the first dose, and Cebu City at 44.36 percent fully-vaccinated and 50.18 percent for the first dose.

In Cebu Province, 424,707 individuals have received their first dose, while 371,858 are fully vaccinated. (JOB)
