THE City Government of Mati in Davao Oriental has now allowed children aged five years and older to go outside their homes.
Under Executive Order 100 series of 2021 issued by City of Mati Mayor Michelle Nakpil Rabat on October 8, children ages five years old and above are now allowed to go to outdoor areas for activities permitted by Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) Resolution 125, series of 2021.
The local government may have relaxed its restrictions on minors going outside, but Rabat said children must be supervised by adults who are fully vaccinated.
Senior citizens are also now allowed to move within the city, enter the city as tourists and returning residents, provided they are fully vaccinated.
Meanwhile, senior citizens will be required to present their Covid-19 vaccination card.
Outdoor areas allowed are parks, playgrounds, beaches, biking and hiking trails, outdoor tourist sites and attractions as may be defined by the Department of Tourism, outdoor non-contact sports courts and venues, al fresco dining establishments, and places of worships.
Mixed-use indoor/outdoor buildings, facilities, such as malls and similar establishments are however still off-limits to children and senior citizens.
EO 100 also stated that its guidelines effectiveness is still subject to Covid-19 situation update.
“In case of spike and increase in cases, the IMT shall immediately withdraw the modifications provided in this Order,” the EO stated.
Strict observance of the minimum public health standards like the wearing of face masks, social distancing, avoid mass gathering, frequent washing of hands will still be implemented at all times in all areas within the city.
The relaxed restrictions on minors comes as the national government is set to pilot the Covid-19 vaccination from the 12 to 17 year old age group, and the incoming limited face-to-face classes. (With PR)
