THE vaccination rollout for individuals among the age group of 12 to 17 years old in Cagayan de Oro is expected to begin in the first week of November, the City Health Office said.

According to City Health Office medical officer Dr. Ted Yu, they are still waiting for the Department of Health (DOH) to provide them with the specific guidelines for the said vaccination activity.

"Hopefully by first week of November as per advise from the Department of Health, we will proceed na sa 12-17 years old," Yu said.

"In the coming days, the Department of Health will provide a specific guidelines on this 12 to 17 years old. While waiting, kita pud mag pre-register na ta sa atong kaila or atong mga anak o silingan nga 12 to 17 years old with a different requirements," he added.

Yu said the Covid-19 vaccines available for the said age group are Moderna and Pfizer vaccines.

He added that the side effects of these vaccines are still the same but lesser.

"Very critical dito sa ating 12 to 17 years old [with comorbidities] to get the medical certificate from your pediatricians or doctors para at least ma lessen pa ang mga side effects ng mga bata," Yu said.

At present, more than 8,000 children 12 to 17 years old in Cagayan de Oro were already pre-registered.

Meanwhile, the vaccination rollout for all Kagay-anon residents 18 years old and above begins on Tuesday, October 12.

From October 12 to 15, barangay-based vaccination sites in Bugo Elementary School, COC Senior High School, Lumbia Elementary School and Tablon Elementary School are open.

The City Health Office encourage all 18 years old and above who are residents of the said barangays to get vaccinated.
