OUTGOING Mayor Emmanuel Alejandrino and his wife, Madeth, who are seeking the vice-mayoral and mayoral seat, respectively, expressed anew their full support to the eight aspiring councilors under their lineup.
This came after news about two of the couple's children filed their certificates of candidacy for councilors broke out on social media over the weekend.
Madeth confirmed the news but maintained that it was her children's personal decision, not the family's, to join local politics.
She said she discouraged all of her children to skip politics but two of them pushed through with their plans.
She claimed, however, that her two children were possibly pushed by their opponents in an attempt to break their family's bond.
"Nasa demokrasyang bansa naman tayo at ang mga anak ko may sariling isip. Ang sa akin lang, katulad ng sinabi ko sa kanila: buntot nila, hila nila. Magulang pa rin nila ako pero iyong suporta ko sa politics, nandito sa aming team," she said.
Speaking to their councilorables on Monday, October 11, the couple assured that their team will still fight as one in their quest to continue and improve the good governance initiated by the three-termer mayor.
"Hindi magbabago, siguro madadagdagan pa ang suporta sa aming mga konsehal dahil ito ang pangako namin at nakita namin na iisa ang layunin namin para sa bayan ng Arayat kaya kami nagkasama-sama sa isang grupo," Madeth said.
Alejandrino also told their councilorables not to mind the detractors and focus on continuously serving Arayateños.
"Kapag ang puno hitik sa bunga, talagang babatuhin at babatuhin. Siguro nakikita nila na ang suporta ng Arayateños ay nasa atin kaya nila tayo sinusubukan na gibain pero magfocus tayo sa layunin na makapagserbisyo sa mga tao," he said.
