A BACOLEÑO ranked fourth in the Chemical Engineering Licensure Examinations administered by the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) from October 3 to 5, 2021.

Justine Valero Cientos, 21, of Makiling Street in Brangay Villamote, Bacolod City, garnered a rating of 82.30 percent.

Cientos was a graduate of the Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod (CSAB).

Al Christian Regorgo Gorbes of the University of the Philippines-Diliman campus placed first, with an 84 percent mark.

Cientos told SunStar Bacolod that it was his girlfriend, Michelle Gosiaoco, who informed him of the result Monday, October 11.

He said he had his review classes at the PEB Training and Review-Math, Science and Engineering, and also studied on his own during his free time.

Cientos added that he is dedicating his success to God, his family and his girlfriend, whom he said were there in his journey.

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia congratulated Cientos, saying his performance serves as an inspiration to would-be engineers and young students.

Leonardia said it will motivate many to strive harder to achieve academic excellence and develop their competitive skills.

Of the 17 takers from CSA-B, only seven or 41.18 percent passed, the school said in a statement.

CSA-B staff and faculty members congratulated Cientos in the school's official Facebook page.

The PRC reported that the overall national passing rate for the October 2021 Chemical Engineering Board Examinations is 47.42 percent, producing 321 new chemical engineers out of 679 board takers.
