PIA-Western Visayas kicks start journalism talk webinar series

THE Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-Western Visayas launched its annual journalism trainings among high school and college campus paper editors, writers, photojournalists and school paper advisers dubbed this year as "PIA Journ Talk Series 2021."

This webinar series will hold the virtual sessions with high school publications on October 13 to 15, college publications on October 20 to 22 and its latest inclusion of a MasterClass on School Paper Management on October 28.

PIA-Western Visayas has revolutionized the training into the digital platform sans physical gathering but face-to-face talks between the learners and the experts.

This year's PIA Journ Talk Series anchors on the theme "Devcom: Relevance in Campus Journalism During Pandemic Time" and articulates the "never gets out of fashion" principles of Development Communication in Campus Journalism to stay relevant amid the pandemic.

Among this year's resource persons include former Philippine Daily Inquirer sports writer Cedelf Tupas, multi-disciplinary artist and photojournalist Aeson Baldevia.

Also, digital strategists Marco Dueñas and Alfred Lucot, who were once campus journalists trained under the PIA training programs and were awarded citations of the various awards of PIA-Western Visayas, will share their expertise to the series.
