THE minor who died on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2021 due to blunt force trauma with a metal railing, was laid to rest on Tuesday, Oct. 12, at the Carreta Cemetery in Cebu City.

This was announced by City Councilor Dave Tumulak who extended financial help to the family in Brgy. Duljo Fatima.

Tumulak said the Cebu City Government, through Department of Social Welfare and Services head Portia Basmayor, also gave financial assistance to the family.

The councilor added that the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño provided the coffin for the boy and Brgy. Sto. Niño Captain Lourdes Ramirez shouldered the burial cost at the Carreta cemetery.

Tumulak said the accident was caused by a metal railing that was used to close a portion of the Osmeña Blvd. On Oct. 8.

The child was with his mother who was selling candles by the Basilica on Oct. 10. According to the mother, strong winds swept across the area and blew around the unsecured metal railing which hit the child.

Tumulak said it was impossible for something as heavy as a metal railing to be swept by the wind. He said the child must have been playing with or by the railing. (PAC / CCP)
