AUTHORITIES intercepted a parcel containing ecstasy tablets worth P6.57 million at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City on Wednesday, October 13, 2021.
The Bureau of Customs (BOC) said the illegal drugs were placed inside a parcel containing two improvised pouches. The 3,865 hexagon tablets and skull tablets were confirmed to be ecstasy tablets.
These were turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for case profiling and build up against the persons responsible for the shipment.
Charges of violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act 2002 (Republic Act No. 9165) in relation to Section 119 (Restricted Importation) and Section 1401 (Unlawful Importation) of Republic Act No. 10863 otherwise known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA) will be filed against the perpetrators.
The apprehension of this shipment came on the heels of the arrest of a person who claimed 100 pieces of ecstasy tablets worth 170,000 which were sent via letter in Central Post Office Manila. (SunStar Philippines from PR)
